For all practical purposes, I'll be out of touch from tomorrow to this coming Wednesday. I'm going to look at college in Arizona and the flight leaves tomorrrow at 8 am, so I will be around tonight if I'm needed.

If not, see everyone Thursday.

We have a muggle born! Anyway...before we can incorporate her into the game, we should get the meeting of the four founders out of the way. Since it seems like everyone keeps on missing each other, let's go the message board route with the message Rowena was so kind to start.

By the way, once again, sorry for belateness. I've gotten suddenly busy.

This is an idea for how to post the in-journal rps.

When: This means that we can jump around a little in time, and have a bit more flexibility. If nothing happens to our characters for a week, then we don't necessarily have to wait an RL week to post.
Who: This can give us an easy guide to see what characters know what's going on. If, for example, plans are being made for a party for Helga, then Helga can just look at this line and realize that she doesn't need to worry about it.
Where: Self-explanatory
Summary: Again, self-explanatory.

So, now an example.

When: March 30, 990
Who: Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff
Where: The manor of Rowena's famaily.
Summary: Helga has come for a visit and Rowena is eager to show off her latest experiments.

If there are to be NPC's, deal with them as needed.
And lastly, I'd suggest using the lj-cut as needed.

An Owl to Rowena Ravenclaw:

My Dear Lady and Friend,

Good day, Rowena! I'm afraid it is another letter from your Helga, if you don't mind the constant interruption. Jessamine has insisted, and I add my pleas, that you would join us in the valley for a stay! Lord Gryffinor and Lord Slytherin have agreed to it, though the particulars are of yet to be settled - though I await their replies with an uncommon urgency. The entire castle is in an uproar of delight, Jessamine is so adamant that the estate be at its ultimate perfection for your arrival. I hope to recieve your consent to the visit soon. Let this owl fly more swift than its brothers!

Sincerely, Honestly and Loyally,
Lady Helga Hufflepuff

Well, after reading over an application, I decided I needed to detail muggle/wizard relations a bit more than I have. This is my first rpg I've been a mod of, so be patient. Also, I would like it if people would reply to the post about family and how they fit into the big scheme of things.

Anyway...muggle relations...

In Ancient Britain, there were no muggle/wizard separation. Magical folk were regarded by the muggles as just special. It often did run in the family and father would teach magic to son and daughter to mother etc etc.

When the Romans invaded, their ideals were pushed on the people there. Roman wizards looked down upon the British wizards for fraternizing with muggles. This caused a war. Unfortunately, it was the war between this clash (as well as other factors, including Christianity) that separated the two worlds. The Roman wizard clan of Vespillo became the family in charge. It was them that instilled the feudal exchange of power.

In Rome, Roman wizards were not that much different from the senate there. If the leader wasn't liked, the other families would just gang up on him and kill him.

But I digress. Eventually, the British families wanted to gain control. The Black family was the one to do so. However, after many centuries of not interacting much with muggles stayed the norm. The Blacks weren't as militant at muggle oppression at first. In fact, they tried to reconnect the muggle world with the wizard world. When such was met was violence, the Blacks changed their tune. Other families believe that uniting is not impossible. And there are others who believe that maybe they will be best left alone.

Outside what is modern England, where the Roman grasp wasn't as strong, muggle/wizard relations are slightly different. In Wales, magical folk are seen much like special muggles. Most of them end up having holdings. In places like Scotland and Ireland, the magical folk are held in high esteem. In Scotland, those with magic might end up being rulers of a clan. In Ireland, the families are either regarded with respect or fear. Some Irish magic families want to be left alone.

The Romans weren't the only group that invaded the British Isles. The Vikings have recently invaded and conquered parts of the island. Unlike Rome, the Vikings are being controlled by Viking wizards. Pretty much, the Vikings are a result what some of the British wizards could not help but admire. The norsemen weren't necessarily being controlled by magic, but their leaders were magical themselves. Luckily, they don't discriminate for magical blood.

I hope that makes sense. If there are any questions or comments, don't be afraid to ask.

My Friends,
It has been quite some time since I have seen you last. I hope all is well.
However, I have a favor to ask of you, my friends. I was wondering if any of you might happen to have some ground dragon claw, as my supply has run out. I shall be unable to get any more for at least a month, and need it for a protection spell experiment.

Sincerely,
Lady Rowena Ravenclaw

Owl to Lord Salazar Slytherin:

My Lord Slytherin,

Good day, friend. I hope this finds you well and not suffering needlessly (specifically from boredom, as Lord Gryffindor admits to). It has been many a day since I have seen you, and Jessamine especially has become anxious to see her old pupils together once again. I have invited Godric to join the Hufflepuffs in the valley, and am now extending the invitation to you as well - and I would pray that you accept it.

May your response arrive swiftly,
Sincerely and Honestly,
Lady Helga Hufflepuff

Post-Script: How is your mother, Lady Slytherin, by the way?

Owl to Lord Godric Gryffindor:

My Lord and Friend,

Good day and how do you fair? I hope this letter finds you well and with all limbs still firmly attached. I must say it has been years since we last saw one another and I often wonder how time has treated you. I apologize for not keeping in touch, but sometimes the days pass too swiftly. I have kept in touch with Lady Rowena, though not nearly as much as I would like. Have you spoken to Lord Salazar of late? Jessamine suggests that I should invite the lot of you to the valley for a stay, which Lamorak, Orrick and especially Gwendolen agree. Do you believe you might be able to make the trip? The snow is mostly gone, though the cold still lingers some days.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely and Honestly,
Lady Helga Hufflepuff
